A Coordinated Protection Officer managing a rail possession needs to track which jobs are signed on, which track sections are protected, and work-train movements — in real time, without the coordination living only in a radio log or a paper diary. We built Possession Coordinator: a shift-based workspace where each possession carries its own city and country limits, protected track sections (sidings, tunnel roads, branch lines), and active versus signed-off jobs.

A coordinator defines the protected sections for a possession, then signs jobs on and off against it — visible instantly on both the job list and the Protection Map, a live kilometre-scale diagram of every track section and its state.

One live possession we reviewed tracked 36 signed-off jobs end to end — real-time visibility of what's protected, what's active, and what's already signed off, instead of a workflow that depends on verbal handover and paper logs.
